Shipping clerk is the classical land-based maritime job. Daily tasks at company headquarters or offices anywhere in the world include organising the transport of goods by ship, handling and planning ship operations, and purchasing the goods required on board. Shipping clerks organise pre- and post-carriage to and from the port, making sure all goods and containers arrive at their destination undamaged. Depending on training specialisation and area of activity, shipping clerks may also plan ships routes.
Shipping clerk is a classical apprenticeship-type qualification with theory lessons taken at a vocational school. You will learn the practical side of the profession at your training company, either a shipping company or a shipbroker. After completing this apprenticeship, you will become part of the international supply chain that ensures full shelves in shops and economic prosperity in Germany and beyond.
